Nice, I am actually getting that procedure done this Thurs. Correcting septum too -thanks to hockey. Doc says no labor for a week (except this Sun....) since my sinuses will be plugged and I will not be able to breathe out of my nose.

when you go in for the surgery tell them you just ate and they won't be able to do the surgery.

just dont let your doc do a turbinate reduction... i dont believe this should ever be done, unless you have problems from using afrin continuously.

Well nothing has worked (plus getting migranes) over the last few years so here I am at this point. Maybe I'll mention this to see the look on his face. I still plan to paddle out Sun or Mon...thanks

i got myself a nedi-pot so hopefully that will help. i gave it a go but it didnt help, i guess it only helps before an infection settles in. Ofcouse i cant actually quit surfing, even if i wanted to i couldnt. i truelly am a wavejunkie, i put surfing infront of friends, family and my own health. but i cant surf for more than one day in a row, not being able to breathe out of my nose will serously hinder my already limited abilities.
    -thanks for the advice
-hahaha, i love the **** talking too...keep it coming. little punk teenagers talkin **** arent goin to stop me from hassleing you for set waves and calling out the ****s who drop in on anybody they want.

Ya pretty much have to do it as a preventative measure. If you're blocked up, don't use it. If you stuffy, you can.

The sad part is...they're not all teenagers.

I could have started this post. But I didn't quit surfing.

I had the surgery 5 years ago and surfed 5 days later. Bled like a stuck pig. Was nasty, my buddy paddled far away from the blood pool.. It was a fun day but only 3-4ft.

    Kuono, be careful.

Nettie pot rules, but only if you use it 2x a day.

Sinus infections are something I know about all to well... I get them all the time after I surf, and trust me I know how much they suck. That being said, I do have a few things that really help, they may seem out there, but they work wonders.

    1. Apple Cider Vinegar, Lemon, and honey in boiling water. Mix in about a tablespoon or 2 or apple cider vinegar (the good unfiltered stuff, Bragg's is the best), a quater of a lemon, and a good dose of honey... Gargle and drink it... This is probably the best thing you can drink, period. The health benifits of this drank are ridiculous. Plus it works wonders with a sore throat, and will really help to open up your sinuses.

    2. Cayanne Pepper... Mix a good amount of cayanne pepper in some warm water and gargle it. People have been using cayanne to treat sinus infections for thousands of years, It works wonders! Also as a last resort you can lay out a little bump of cayanne and snort it ... Yes. I said snort it.. Its a last resort, but it never fails, your sinus infection will be gone in seconds. Also using a neti pot with some cayanne mixed in works wonders!

    3. Raw Garlic... Its another cure that never fails. Just grab a clove, chew it up good, and hold it on your throat for as long as you can. It burns really really bad, but afterwards your sinuses will really open up... Also ingesting the garlic will help combat the infection. Garlic is the most powerful natural antiviral in the world!

When I have a sinus infection I always do all 3 of these. If its not gone the next day, I snort the cayanne and that literally never fails. I always try to stay away from any over the counter medicine, but mucinex really helps sinus infections too.

Anyways... Do what I told you and your sinus infection will be gone in no time!!! Trust me...

P.S. Stay away from dairy projects when you have a sinus infection, it thickens the mucus and will only make your infection work.

Agree. See an allergist. I suffered from sinus infections every few months. Not a problem anymore.

    didn't think so.. ha..

anyway, i'd be pretty scared to rail a line of cayenne pepper, despite the benefits of ingesting it. how does that help??

I use to get a lot of sinus infections, i stopped drinking milk and eased up on other dairy products; and now i rarely get them. give it a try.
