so last friday i made my way down to north carolina from va beach for a new surf adventure and i brought the go pro hd cam with me. i shot video for about two hours and when i went to watch it on my computer it said error 2048 quicktime couldnt read the codec etc...... ive taken plenty of videos on my camera before with the same memory card but all of a sudden it cant read my last sessions file? anyone have trouble with uploading from their go pros? anyone have any suggestion on how to make it work? if it helps i already re installed the new version of quicktime as well
http://www.moviecodec.com/solutions/quicktime-error-2048-fix-41979/ Like what he said VLC Quicktime blows ass. Try what was listed there. I don't have a go-pro. K-Lite Codec Pack http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm CCCP Codec Pack http://cccp-project.net/ Both are pretty complete codec packs. If the first method doesn't work, download one of them and then try again.
I'm pretty sure thats the same issue I had when trying to download the video through my card reader. When I used the camera itself as a card reader it worked fine. Hope this helps.
Best if you list your exact editing software, media player, computer , etc..... this has always been a valuable tool for me, http://www.squared5.com/
im just using a dell computer, no editing software yet just trying to see it in quicktime, i tried the vlc player and it just wont open and in the ccp it wont open either. i have no idea what to do it says its an unrecognizable file?
its an mp4? when i click on the file it says error 2048 quicktime cant open cause it cant recognize the file
Quicktime Are you using Quicktime Pro (packaged w/ Final Cut Studio), or just the standard Quicktime?
just the standard free edition, but the most recent? i cant imagine letting this footage be lost it was my first trip to obx last friday and the barrels were endless!!!
i typed the error into google and this was the first hit http://www.moviecodec.com/solutions/quicktime-error-2048-fix-41979/ after a quick read its solution is to use VLC (which has been said, but i use it as well and its good), and then also to save to file, although VLC should be able to play it regardless. when saving to file it mentions to encode it as a different format (from .mp4 to DivX or another file type). this comes from the solution to your error so apparently it should work
