Since Cedars was dredged there are no longer any good spots on LBI. It is a real shame.... I heard the Manahawkin Lake has been breaking real good lately. I usually crash at the Holiday Inn across the street and walk my homemade Longboard Dumpster Diver across 72. In the summer you can get an Italian Ice and your taxes done while you surf, pretty sweet bros. -JS
are you guys serious? "nah no more spots since cedars is gone" thats the biggest load of BS ive ever heard. Im from LBI and I can assure you that there are plenty of sick spots just as good, or better, than harvey cedars. If you know the island, you'll know where to surf, and I'm not just talking about the south end. I surf in lovelaides the most. There are no crowds no matter what time of year, and there are some great sandbars all within walking distance.
this is pretty much the truth. ive been at LBI for almost 6 years now, and there are still great spots to go to. the south end has always been good but other than that, it's still not completely junk just because harveys is gone
You guys keep blowing up spots up there. I'm coming up from Ocmd and bringing all my friends. If u got a spot we should make crowded let me know.
I have been secretly dragging sandbags out on Bergen, creating a new sand bar...so good news Harvey Cedars is back. Join the party next swell for a Harvey Cedars rebirthing extravaganza.
Lol.. why don't you guys post pics of how sick it is and maybe everyone WON'T come. You're advertising your break.. Alwell... if anyone cares, I'll be the boogieboarder! Black top/white rail/red bottom
ND081- you spell Loveladies, "Loveladies"...like ladies. You prob wouldn't know that though since u been chasin dudes around all your life. <3 SLADE
I hit Cedars a few times about four years ago, maybe three. It was ALRIGHT then, but the quality seemed to get worse every time I went. LBI is full of surfable breaks man. Some spots are better than others which is to be expected.
If you think hc sucks you obviously haven't been there recently...not to say it is as good as it was say 5-10 years ago....but IMO the 5 million that got spent in replinishment was clearly a waste as it messed up some good spots for the summer, and now that sand is gone back to sea...it took all of 6 months....so goes the way of beach replenishment....and I don't want to blow up any spots in particular, but clearly some spots have already come back....so yeah...HC sucks, go surf at 7-11, I hear its awesome and never croweded...
I'll never understand these types of posts. What exactly are you trying to prove? 1st rule of surfing: Shhhhhhh (I'm not trying to pick on you specifically, but it just happens to be the one I'm quoting. There have been worse. )
I think you guys need to work on your comprehension skills. No one said that there are no good spots on LBI anymore. But if your going to tell me that Loveladies or other spots are as good as what Cedars use to have - than you must have amnesia. The bathymetry of Cedars use to have channels that lead straight to that area and would make a 2foot wave into a 4 foot wave. Ive lived on that island for 10 years and no way in hell does ship bottom or brant beach or Loveladies ever come close to what Cedars had to offer.
Cedars is fun still. Hollow beachbreak. Just not the same as it was. Lbi is cool cuz theres always a place to go without crowds.
typo sorry notice i didnt drop any particular names, just the town which really doesnt count. and i honestly could care less if people started coming to loveladies, more than 3/4 of the time I'm the only one out. and no it doesnt compare to cedars, but there a few good breaks there that will go off with the right swell and still be empty unlike HC which is usually fairly crowded
There are no waves left on LBI south of the causeway. All the ceder sand went north with the prevailing drift so all of you stay north of the 7-11. Seriously I love saying hello to my mother and then going for a session. If you think the sand replacement fouled up ceders, try looking at what happen to Sea Bright about 12 years ago. It has never recovered.
