Hey guys i know how much u all hate to see this question but im gonna ask anyway:D
Im driveing my fiance her mom and grandparents to VA beach this weekend to her uncles for a BAbY SHOWER. Yes a Baby Shower.(no i dont have to attend) And yes it sucks to be the taxi driver for the future inlaws. BUT the good thing is where were staying is pretty close to the beach. Ive never been down there before and was just wondering if anyone can give me a little advice on were to paddle out or if anyone would like to meet up for a sesh. Were gonna leave tomarrow after work and are coming home Sunday.

    THanks

    Surf Here

Dawg, if you want to surf, go to 78th street. There is no one there, ever, and it is a big part of the beach. But, there is a little bit of a drop - off there, but just get out there and do your thang.

depends what your looking for, first street will always have a crowd. The north end is desolate this time of year, so is sandbridge.

I've never surfed 1st street since I moved here to VB, but which free parking are you talking about? The big open lot next to the boardwalk? The only other parking I know of is the Fishermen's parking lot next to the inlet and the individual metered one's along Atlantic, most of which are always full when there's even a thigh high swell.

    Thanks.

sounds like you might want to hang with some folks, which is cool. but - like the stud says - if you want empty go the north end. it was thigh-waist today semi-clean and totally deserted. saturday afternoon looks like it might be more of the same...

1st street is usually the place that gets something when there isn't anything else around. The parking is free this time of the year. Its the big lot right after you come out of the bend. It does get pretty crowded, but when it does you can always move up to 2nd 3rd....and so on. Cant really say much for Croatan I been getting skunked their lately. Its the beach across the inlet. Parking there is also free, but gate closes at like 4:30? Your car will get towed and trust me it sucks.

Just keep your expectations down and you wont be disappointed is probably the best advice I can give you.

    Croatan? Gate?

Ive surfed there a bunch of times..(last time just a couple years ago).i thought you just drove into that rich neighborhood and parked on the one street (two maybe) that has no parking permit restrictions??? I dont remember driving through a gate?!

im not saying that all those surf spots suck(1st street mainly) but if you want a bit more power than some crumbly 1st st. waves, go to sturns in sb. its the only place in vb that breaks remotely like obx.it also breaks a little shallower to allowing the barrels to be more defined. theres my 2 cents.

Yeah those are the parking if you go left on Vanderbuilt to surf twightlight. If you take a right instead of going left on vanderbuilt you'll get to the municipal parking lot. its basically right next to camp Pendelton.
