am i the only person that even with a hood on feels like they cant breath correctly when they get in the cold water? i went out yesterday(monday) and i have a 5mil hood (not connected to my suit) and i dont know why but when i get held under i feel like i can only be under for a second. how does everyone else cope with the cold tempatures?

does jelly on the face work? ive always wondered if getting a better hood would solve my problem since i have the cheapest one you can possibly find. it has no contours built into it so its pretty much just restricting your face and neck movement

I am very sensitive to the cold. I feel like each year, it gets worse and worse. First off, try getting a wetsuit with an attached hood. It's a better fit and fits nice and snug, but you can still move your neck around. I always put vaseline on my face, it creates a little bit of a barrier to protect your face from the cold. When duckdiving, turn your head to the side (believe it or not, it actually helps) and last, when you get held under, relax.....let the water do it's thing and cover your head or face. I usually always protect my head, just in case, but when your face feels like it is going to fall off, i cover my face while under water. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas!

^^ If you do use vaseline on your face & then cover your face under water, you will get it on your gloves & then the rails, deck, etc. Might not want to touch your face if you do use it.

Try playing static x- cold threw your head while your surfing. It helps.
