Yo, thinking about getting a carver skateboard with my x-mas money. The one that i've been looking at and would fit me I think the best is the 34inch greenroom model.Give me some feedback about the skateboard, also do these carver skate boards really feel like your surfing??? Happy new year, and festivas to the rest of us
Get one. Seriously, I've tried carving on all different types of boards, and nothing comes close (except the Snakeboard, but those take much time to master; also those 'x-skate' trucks were pretty sick but I think they don't make them anymore; but these top the x-skate ones by far). You will hop right on this thing and have a blast immediately (very user-friendly). Great workout for when there's no surf and I feel that it's definitely improved my surfing. As far as size, you'll be able to do tighter turns with the shorter Carver, but I've tried a longer one and they're fun too for cruising long distances without pushing at all. Everyone who's tried mine wants one (I have the 29 in. model I think?). Hope this helps. Peace.
Get a Flexdeck 29". Its a bit pricey but the deck has alot more flex. The deck is made of compressed fiberglass. It flexes through your turns and creates drive. Had a carver, it is nice but not even close. It is definately sidewalk surfing. You can get on the thing and dont even have to push just use your hips like you do when you are surfing and you will start building speed. Its the best set up ive ever ridden. I will warn you they are hard to get but its cause they are awesome.
I tired Knox's model and I liked it they got one in Woodys that you can Demo they are way better than a sector 9 or anything else its like surfing on asphalt
How much does a Flexdeck cost? Do you guys think a 34inch carver is to big, I kind of want a in between one that can cruise and do some turns. Happy festivas to the rest of us
i got the carver 34" greenroom in october, its sick. really feels like surfing, you dont have to push at all just pump. i ride it on banks and in ditches mostly and just carve some hard slashes and pump around. it has really helped my backside i think because i was never comfortable surfing backside until i got the carver and rode some left hand banks on it. i would say definitely get one, i got mine used for a really good price and got some harder wheels for it cause the guy didnt have the stock wheels but it works perfectly cause i can get it to slide on real hard slashes like youre blowing the fins out. if you wanna save some $ on one check out craigslist, ebay, and the classified section on silverfishlongboarding.com
Do not get a flexdex. I hate those things, really heavy and the flex isn't as great as it's made out to be.
Yo RobG where did you get your carver at?? I've been looking on craigslist and ebay for the last few weeks but I haven't seen much.
sometimes they pop up on ebay but not too often. i got mine on silverfishlongboarding.com. they have a really good classified section, i made a wanted ad saying that i wanted one and someone replied within a couple hours and a week later it was sitting at my doorstep. you may not even need the wanted ad, if you search their classifieds there may be something up for sale already. i paid $60 shipped for mine without wheels which was a sick deal, and i got some wheels on ebay for $20. i would check that site out first though before you buy one new for full price
Thanks RobG I'll definetly keep an eye on the classifyed section. Maybe something will pop up in a few days.
everybody has their own taste i suppose.. i gave my carver away. i ride my flexdex everyday. 29" slater model. not too heavy at all. . It is heavier than a carver though but i want that.not doing airs on the thing just pumping and carving also have a 32"Kalani model for hills. i use soft wheels so its grippy when i pump and doesnt spin out on me. i can really put my hips into every turn. just my experience. and yeah sector nine only really good for people who like pushing and big hills. decent cruiser though. my flexdex is strictly to better my surfing and it does.
ive heard good things about flexdex too, i wouldnt mind giving one a go sometime. im definitely gonna pick up some softer wheels for my carver, my 92a are good when the concretes nice and smooth but i do slide out every once in a while on hard carves. im thinking about picking up some 78a to throw on it for a better all around wheel and use the 98a for concrete parks or parking garages and stuff.
You will love them. im rolling with 78a right now and abec 9 bearings.i skate mostly parking lots with gradual hills.its strictly surf exercise. The one thing i miss about my carver though is how much wider it was.
yeah man im definnitely gonna pick up some 78a wheels when i get a chance. you should look around for some banks, thats what i skate the most its so similar to surfing a wave its crazy. you can just pump for speed, lay down some hard hacks or cutbacks or whatever. definitely the most fun ive had on a skateboard, it keeps me sane when its flat or i cant get to the beach
Get an original they are so much fun and great carving i have the terrapin and it feels just like a surf board so much fun but they have a bunch of different boards for different terrain. the trucks on them make them so great watch a few http://www.originalskateboards.com/longboards
