why new york? id rather do like the outer banks since it seems like the banks always have swells and it can boost the state of NC's economy instead of NYC's which seems like its not in a bad time for economics. plus it would be more central for all east coast surfers to drive and go see.

i'd say a south facing area, like new york, is prob the best bet for September. northerly winds can be a problem in September.

It would really be cool to just label an OBX event, and based on swell angles and stuff, have it down in Buxton or the south end, and if it comes in more direct do it at s-turns or something....

I think OBX is the perfect place to hold it. It has the island feel. Isolation, and that place IS surf... Everyone is in OBX for the same reason, and there are so many waves up and down the coast, every one who attended and brought a board could be having a blast surfing all over OBX....

As far as surf venues, I think that area is a knock-out. You would just have to hope for some decent swell within the event window, but OBX picks up the best windswell on the east coast. Its always a foot or two bigger down there on off days.

Or, fu** it, OC MD INLET!

plus all the east coast surfers that would surf in the event would have a better hand at it since most pro surfers surf OBX, just look at kelly hes surfed the banks plenty of times.

OBX 50% chance of getting hit by a hurricane that week.
