I may be on business in Ft Lauderdale come February. Looking for a shop where I can rent a board, fun or long board, for a evening session. Thank you.

Don't know, hence the need for a board and shop. Someone who can tell me a place to go and the place not to go. Don't mind surfing with others but I am not looking to jump in on where the number 1 break is. Just need a few waves and some salt water after what is turning out to be one very cold winter in Jersey.

You may not see a day with waves in South Florida this time of year. I would advise you to check the surf reports and head north to at least Jupiter Beach. If you get a day with waves, there is an excellent surf shop and rental place called Island Water Sports right on Deerfield Beach. It's a 20 minute drive from downtown Ft. Lauderdale.

What are you talking about we had double over ankle surf today! Big improvement from the toe high surf we were getting.
