The theme of this winter has been more about snow than it has been about waves in the NE. Its no surprise that I've been snowboarding more time this year than have in the last 3 years combined. Although I'll always been a surfer at heart, scoring some fresh powder is definitely up there.... Anyway, figure I'd start the thread for people to share there snowboard trip experiences (local/regional/out west), stories, 4-sale whatever.... Went out west to Colorado for the first time and loved it. Also got to check out Jay Peak in Vermont - first time ridin glades....bout all I got for now, hoping for some more snow in PA soon! Cool snowboard clip I got last weekend at the Winter Jam in Philly... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLRjd11dHBc
last week i hit liberty and whitetail. pretty sick. i wouldnt call it pow lol but it there was defiantly some packed pow. last year i was all about park but i got a burton custom this year with est bindings and now its all slope riding. if anyone is looking at snowboards defiantly look at the channel system by burton. with est bindings there is nothin under you. only complaint is that i need to put the screws in really tight. that clip is sick and i recognize the helmet (smith maze)...first thing that popped out other than the sick butter/flip. just picked up one after too many times hitting my head lol.
have'nt been able to go much this year. hunter once before xmas.. and had my group trip this year in sunday river in a HUGE cabin..such a sick place and got a great price on it. got 12-18 when we were up there. might go tomorrow to pa or creek ...and hopefully jay on spring break..
Heading up to my Aunt and Uncle's 2nd house upstate NY Friday after this storm! Calling for 13-18 inches and they have 4 snow mobiles!!! Hitting Gore Mountain on Saturday.
the snows been sick this year, i worked at mountains the past two seasons but dont have time for it this year. still managed to get out like 10 or so times so far this year which is ok i guess. ive heard jay peak is sick up in vermont, i love glades i bet theyre super fun there. all the snow we have is perfect packing snow for hitting street rails and gaps and stuff, if anyone ever wants to get together and set some stuff up let me know and maybe we could get a crew together what are your guys setups? i ride a technine team rasta board with MFM pro bindings
Definitely more snow than waves this year but after boarding for so long, and surfing for not so long, I turned down powder for swell! I work at Mt Creek so I ride 3-5 times a week. Wishing I could surf 3-5 days a week!!!!!
just got back from an extended trip to montana and fernie, bc. scored some of the best riding of my life. powder everyday in whitefish with some steep and incredibly fun treeriding. fernie we got dumped on the day we got there and had a ft of powder in some very steep and open bowls plus some trees as well. sick ****ing trip. really makes me consider moving to the mountains
what department do you work? i've been doing some of the videos/photos for them this year so i'm there all the time. http://vimeo.com/17805182 http://vimeo.com/18652069 http://vimeo.com/18775386 im on a step child jibstick 156 with burton cartels
Custom X is the ****!!! I lived in steamboat for 3 years, and the custom x was my go to board... I would highly recommend buying one... I had 3 other boards, but that and my mahlolo were the only 2 boards i rode... P.S. If anyone gets a new burton board, avoid the esp bindings... Their pretty much a pain in the ass. I would always have to tighten up my bindings multiple times a day, and had sever cases of disco feet far too much...
I love Seven Springs! I used to have a buddy who lived in Uniontown, also used to be some pretty cool little pubs out there for that after session brew
I have 2 160's and a 158, got an Arbor A-Frame last year and for all mountain it out rides the custom x, but I still rock the custom x's. Arbor Wasteland (it's mid-wide) kicks a$$ too, just a little slower edge to edge because its wider, but I learned to snap it quicker.
great photo jay. I haven't been up yet this year. Hoping to get to southern vt. in the next couple of weeks.
Endervour Paavo pipe board with Union bindings. Check this out: http://www.accuweather.com/blogs/news/story/45220/bastardi-three-of-next-five-wi.asp
