Looks like 2 young bucks.... No offense, but my pref would be a seasoned shaper. And I am not sayin run to WRV. Lots of guys on here know some good facts about local shapers. keep doing your homework. Sorry I couldn't offer too much info about the co. Good luck brotha

HEy man, noffense to those guys but i saw some of their stuff and wouldnt buy one. Now if I was a beginner wanted a shape that would work for me to learn on and had a freind that knew waht kind of shape to order i would go with them to save some dough. But wouldnt buy a board off of them if I was experienced surfer knowing what i want. I buy all my sticks fromt he same shaper everytime so I can tell him each time what i liked or didnt like about the board so the next one he does for me he can improve on the last one. I use Tommy Moore for all my boards, he was WRVs top shaper for years, he moved west so know i get them shipped but his boards are sick. I can help ya if you decide you may want a tommy moore shape.

normally, you would do research about what board you want, what you wanna ride it in, etc, etc. so when you go to the shaper he's not going to make a board that isn't what you desired because you had already scoped out all the details with him. now if you back out because you changed your mind at the last second, then that's your own dumbass fault, and you will still owe him for the time and materials.

Also most shapers require a deposit so they're not left high and dry by scam artists (unfortunately, there's those few aggro surfers that have no respect for the lifestyle/culture/passion of the sport, and cause the rest of us to get the "bad rap")

    local shaper

Try Bill Frierson at Frierson Designs over on Birdneck Rd. He's been shaping boards for VB surf for about 35 years. He will sit down with you and spend as much time as he needs to pick your brain until he knows just what you need and are looking for. He really knows what works in that area. He did a long board for me last Sept. and I couldn't be happier.

    Cost

Price range is $425-475 PU or add $100 for Epoxy Eps build. I currently have a Tommy Moore Round Nose Fishwhich i like better than any Mayhem fish i have ridden. I have a Tommy Moore Twekaer, its a dumpster diver/ white diamond type stick full outline shortboard with single concave.

I have on order (Tommy just got my deposit) a 5'-6" Slop Rod stick, its sort of like a lost plank, a full nose like that, its a quad but has a bump wing right after the front fins to loosen it up and its a squash tail. Its going to be my summertime groveler. Surfs like a high performance shortboard but catches waves like a small longboard. THese are a new model for him.

SInce i have a board on order we can split shipping, boards come to your house or my house so instead of $60 or shipping its $30. I sent you a PM. IF you want come check my boards out see what his stuff looks like. I jhust got these two boards i was talking about this past fall so they are still in great shape almost new so you can get a feel for how light they are, how well made etc....

I could have bought any boards i wanted this past fall, custom Yinger at WRV, custom Mayhem, etc I called Tommy and always will, I have had more magic boards from that guy than any other shaper in 20 years of surfing.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but frierson was the original WRV shaper right. My parent we telling me stories of how the went to high school with him, and that his parent said he wouldn't do anything with his life if he tried to base everything around surfing. So he started WRV, and shaping boards to sell. Now look at him :)

And yeah I have a 6'4 Tommy Moore Diamond Tail, and it is honestly the best shortboard i have in my quiver. Unfortunetly i'm on my 5th season with it and Earl this past year kinda put his mark on her

This is what i am saying

See its not just me, guy makes great boards. i have had 12 tommy moore boards I typically try to get at 2 new boards at a time to keep them both sort of fresh. SO they last me a while. I have had like 12 Tommy Moores, all 12 have beengood but 10 have been like magic. I have rode Jesse Fernadez shapes, ...lost Mayhem shapes, Channel Islands shapes, Redman form WRV shapes, Mike Daniels when he was with WRV and nothing compares to the drive and performance of Tommy's sticks. Billabong I am not sure what your are currently riding, but his boards elevated my surfing. THis guy says its his best shortboard in his quiver, Tommy Moore shapes are sick!
