the water is slowly warming up ( its 49 instead of 42), spring is right around the corner, and summer isn't far behind. Warm water, great weather, bikinis on the beach, and hopefully a few cane swells. Winter is almost over. Maybe there's something to phil seeing his shadow.

    yeee

like the sound of that! i'll totally trade crowds for brain-freezes after every duckdive.

(of course, in the middle of the summer, that'll probably switch)

I'll make a prediction. One day you'll get old and ride a longer board. Show some respect and you may get it back. The surf dude routine is so overdone, dig it!! That being said the call for Feb. and March is above normal temps...

i most likely will ride a wider, thicker, slightly longer shape, but not a longboard. the only lack of respect here is you labeling me "surf dude". a guru offers insight, not shot in the dark predictions and unsound judgements.

    yeah, bikinis and whatnot

    Seriously?

I don't usually post in response to things so infantile, but come on guys, seriously. There is enough bad attitudes and horrible crap going on everywhere you turn your eyes to. Whitewater posted one of the most positive posts I have seen in a while, pure good vibes. If you really want to stoop to that level, you are surfing for the wrong reasons-but that is your choice. Keep it to yourself though, or post a different thread that is full of hate. Just please don't highjack someone's positivism and bring everyone down with you. It is futile posts like these that brought down someone's hard work on another forum, and made them take it down, so now no one can enjoy friendly exchanges. One of the guys, I cannot remember his name, has documented and could recall any swell you wanted to know about in the past decade...to me, that was rad! I think you guys are both wrong in the way you labeled each other. Just get over it and......Keep the positiveness that began this thread going. Enjoy the sunshine

    Sounds good

hanna: "i'm just curious as to how the mature surfer makes the inevitable transition"

Looks like I too the post wrong. That is actually a very interesting topic hanna. I'm sure it will show up one of of the mags as well, or it should. Would be good reading.

What also come into play is the volume revisited movement going on-shorter/wider boards with more volume. I was reading around the Firewire forum the other day and what guys have been saying about their new Sweet Potatoes. I read one guy's post who I think is around 41 and he was saying how good it made him feel to be on a 5'8.

basically for spring for water gear i wear my 4/3 until i can wear board shorts and a wetsuit top. but this yer im investing in a spring suit. but for boards during the winter my standard shortboard is 6'1" jimmy keith epoxy and im like 5'10 so the shortboard is good for all seasons and no matter what gear im wearing.
