    I saw a couple clips a while ago about something like this. But this is the first full scale version with people actually surfing. It looks amazing.

    THanks for those links .....

    I remember reading a article about kelly and wave pools while back ,,, he said he wants to do it to change the format of compitions.. so people can be judged on just turns, just airs or floaters... when every wave in a pool is the same you take the luck factor from the ocean away. and that when real judging comes in.

    i read that "surf the ring" article and it sounds like a cool concept but after watching the video where the guy starts comparing it to nascar and turning surfing into a huge spectator/racing sport im not really into it.

    this thing has the potential to ruin surfing as we know it...

    Proof of Concept

    I'm sure what they built is just a proof of concept and that the thing can produce bigger waves if they scale it appropriately. One thing for sure is that it looks like it produces a perfect wave.
