Are people really arguing over VA Beach vs. OC??? Come on now, we know the waves suck in both places, have a few good spots, and we all start frothing at the mouth whenever we see a nor-easter or tropical storm start brewing since that's gonna be our best shot at anything. Face it, NJ and NC are the places to go. Did OC look anything remotely close to that Lusk video??? No where looked that good, just big dumpy sections, or 5 seconds of a "shoulder".
The sandbar I surfed in OCMD on the last swell was the best surf I've had all year! I personally love ocean city when its on. But it depends on taste of waves. Meteorologically speaking, VB, has the worst swell window in the Mid Atlantic. OBX blocks VB from a lot of the southerly fetch. VB's claim to fame is their proximity to the OBX. You go down to the banks on any good swell, and the most amount of surfers in the water are from VB.
SOOOOOOO TRUE. I own a house in Avon and every time I meet someone in the lineup, they are from VB. I <3 Hatteras!!!!!!!
ya son... Hatty is the way to go for sure, anytime there is swell i head down south, so ya, VB is horrible, but hatty is only a hop a skip and a jump away
Isn't it only a matter of time before everyone gets dropped in on anyway? If you don't have a positive experience surfing then it's not for you. That should go for all those out there dishing the negativity too though. Its like road rage in the line up. Surfing should be mystical so chill out.
