Hello southeast. Sorry to tell you there will be one more surfer either in charleston or wilmington area coming from the northeast (for school). Quick question, whats the thickest suit you boys wear down there? im guessing a 4/3? I was set on picking up a 4/3 mutant, but now i'm leaning on the side of a 4/3 suit with out a hood (like a psych 2 or billabong sg5) and then get a thermo shirt with attached hood on it ( had one before, surprisingly comfortable and warm) what you guys think? I think im now set on buying a 4/3 then get that thermo/hood. I really dont want to bring a 5/4/3 down here. thanks for the input.

uh, yeah sorry. i swear i was in the southeast forum. just ignore.

administrator you can delete this. my bad....

and DaMook - I asked this question now, because i have a hook up where I can get a killer wetsuit deal, so I figured i might as get a new 4/3 when I can, ya know? saving me like....200 bucks.

In Charleston you don't need a wetsuit or a board for that matter for lack of surf. Just focus on your tan and scoring. Oh and you'll need a cooler and a CI for hangin' at the Washout.

i live in wilmington, nc and i will tell you, you will want a good 4/3 maybe get the mutant just to make it easy so you dont have to deal with a non hooded suit. but if i were you i would also bring a 5/4/3 if your gonna be here next year as this year the winter was a cold one. and that 5/4/3 will be warm for you if the following winters are as cold or even colder than this year.

I won't need a 5/4/3. im used to cold water from NJ. 4/3 with a thermo with attached hood is fine enough, i think.

That should be enough, but last winter months the water bottomed out at 43 degrees, and none of the surf shops stocked 5 mills gloves or 7 mill booties. Maybe something you might want to bring down. You might want a 5/4/3 for trips up to the outer banks though... I would at least, I get cold pretty easily.

i know i get cold easily.

also do the hotwater trick. before you leave fill up a water cooler (those orange gatorade jugs) and then when your done surfing its still hot since the jugs are insulated and you take the hot water and dump it on you and it cleans the booties since wb shuts the public water off in the winter.

relax "cresto". I know what I'm doing, i just have never worn a 4/3, and I question the hood and zip system. My questions was wether I should get a mutant of a 4.3 and use a thermo with a hood attached. I was just second guessing myself, and curious what others preferred. It's not like Im asking what I should were for this weekend or anything. I'm going to a foreign place and simply asking how cold people get. get your panties out of a bunch
