I will definitely take my daughter to see it. Hell, I take her and her friends if thats what it takes to get her stoke back. Last summer she got wacked in the head by some kook trying to surf a crowded summer break with no leash. Her friends helped her out of the water - she had a pretty good size lump but no blood thank God. Apparently the A-Hole never asked her if she was ok. I feel lucky I was not there because I would probably be incarcerated right now.
HAHAHAHAH yes you are sooo right! and he doesnt even do all his surfing in it. and wtf is with the stupid wave dance that kook did. thats all we need is a movie like that misinterpreting what its really about to people who might be interested in giving surfing a go.. North Shore is at least entertaining. hell i gotta say even blue crush is better than surfer dude. the only thing surfer dude had good in it was Willie Nelson.
North Shore is a classic! Point Break yes! have both on VHS... Never saw Surfer dude probaly never will Blue crush was ok not too bad what was that movie with Shane Dorian?? It flopped also in the box office. Hollywood should stay out of surfing.. No need for the mainstream to get any ideas as for us we have surf vids on dvd and plenty of great film makers out there making quality surf porn for us. Surfers cant act and actors cant play surfers. Think Kelly slater proved that any one remember Baywatch?
ok Big Weds was a good movie. Both acting and surfing actually a really good movie... Have that on VHS also..mmm makes me wonder does my VCR work anymore
im surprised no ones mentioned the movie with the surfing penguins. i kinda liked that one and i think rob machado voiced one of the characters
iv got to chime in here... worst surf movie ever (aside from the opening scene) was the Billabong Odyssey. It was 20 minutes of big wave action and 1.5 hours of dudes talking about how much they respect each other. If I hear the word "brudda" again im going to off myself...
Blood Surf is the worst. Guys film a movie about surfers surfing in shark infested water. They chum the water before surfing.
in god's hands did not suck, i get sucked into it everytime its on the movie channel. Nobody mentioned forgetting sarah marshall - Kalani Robb pours a mean bloody mary and kala alexander is holding down the beach like always!!!!!!
as far as fictional surf movies go, Big Wednesday is my favorite. Its story line of friends during the hey day of surf culture in California while maturing through the interruption of the Vietnam war is a classic movie even if your not a surf fan. blue crush? c'mon guys i can't stand looking a layne beachley's face that shane dorian movie blew chunks. He was supposed to be some amazing surfer and women just couldn't hold themselves back. stupid!! surfiing was good though. north shore-horrible movie, but lance berkhardt is my favorite surfer. point break, Gary Busey should have won an academy award. "Two meatball sandwiches, Utah two!!" Surf's Up- next to Big Wed. my next favorite with such slim pickens!!
big Wednesday is great, probably my favorite. Gary Busey was great in that movie. "Listen Squid Lips!" . The point grinder was my dream girl as a kid, for real, lol.
+1 big wednesday (and its on netflix!) Im convinced that gary busey never snapped out of that role. Remember when he ate his aptitude test in the draft office? hahaha
I agree about billabong oddysey that movie was horribad anyway, Am I the only one that would defiantly SMASH bethany hamilton or what?
I think that movie was called "The Fast and Furious" and Surf's up i think is one of the best surf movies ever. big wednesday is amazing, and point break is an Original for sure
Ha ha!! Yeah the draft part of the movie was great. Gary Busey was awesome " Can I have a cigarette? Go ahead, Can I have another Cigarette?" Loved that. I grew up in the 70's and the opening scene of them all crawling out of their cars was so accurate. We would all roll up at like 4 am and lay back and snooze in our cars until the sun started to come up. Then everyone would be rushing to wax up and get out first. The first waves of the day were always magic. That movie was a bit corny but really captured the feel back then, even though it was about the early 60's not the 70's.
