What are your opinions on a Xcel XFlex X-Zip 3/2MM Wetsuit for $150 and a ONeill Heat 3Q Zip 4/3MM Wetsuit - FSW for $180? Posted on the wetsuit thread, nobody replied.
go to a shop and try them on. xcel x-zip is the better suit. but if the Oneil fits better then thats no longer true. fit is the sole factor in wetsuits. which ever fits better is better. PS all xcels fit the same. and all oneils fit the same. you dont have to find that particular suit to see how it fits.
btw, im pretty sure there is a wetsuit thread with A MILLION POSTS! This is why no one has responded to your threads... just sayin
I'm gonna get both of them, I just want to know some inputs on both. If the price is good, if they are good suits, etc..
first wetsuits? cause i think you should buy one and then get the other once you know what you like and dont like about the other. Example: i got my 4/3 billabong foil steamer as my first wetsuit. when i was ready for winter surf i got a 5/3 and from my 4/3 i knew that i should get it a little tighter, and i knew that back-zips suckkk. So i was able to learn from previous mistakes. If this is your first purchase of wetsuits your risking making 2 mistakes in one P.S. WETSUIT REVIEW STICKYYYY!!!!!!!!!!
No, I've had a 3/2 west and a 4/3 billabong. The 4/3 sucked, and I loved the west. I went to the store and tried them on already they both fit me snug in a Large.
xflex x-zip is solid. In fact, I would argue that xcel chest zip suits are the modern standard for wetsuit technology. I got my first one back in like 02 or 03 and NOBODY had one, now every company either makes a chest zip or lives in the shadow of xcel. I will never purchase a back zip suit again. Ever.
I have an xflex 4/3, and infiniti 3/2. Both are great suits, but you do notice the difference since the infiniti is a step above, and the sealed/taped seams also contribute. I've dabbled in other brands, but Xcel works the best for me, and the fit of one of their sizes I believe was made for me, hehe Also, I never really found any proof, but I heard Xcel has the contract for making suits for US Navy Seals.
Lord knows there's enough data (even on this site) regarding wetsuits. Do your homework...what one guy wants in a wetsuit, another guy might not. How warm is it? Is it sexy enough? Does the medium tall O'Neill fit the same as the medium tall Rip Curl? Is it 100 percent stretch, or only 50 percent? Are the seams glued, taped, stitched? The point is, reading about it and looking at pictures on the internet is not enough info. Go to your local shop and really get into the weeds. On another note, I've usually recommended buying suits on the 'net because of the prices. But I also believe in hooking up your local shop....it's what keeps the brothers in business.
