I'm looking at the Monmouth County forecast, but a lot of the forecasts will be like this for tomorrow (Thursday), where the timeline turns green right about at sun down... Bust out the night vision goggles. or of course you can wait until Friday
bummers.....I'm kinda used to that though. Actually happens a lot. Sun goes down...wind cuts off...swell picks up and glasses out. Fortunately, there are a couple spots that can be surfed at night....but I ain't telling
I was just watching dark fall and they show a couple short clips of night surfing... I'd like to do this too, cause it does seem magical at times
Has anyone gone out at night? I've heard of guys going out by boardwalks/hotels with a lot of lighting. Maybe a full moon ? I have a friend who does it when the waves are small...
I've surfed 3-4ft barrels on a full moon. It was eerie... but really fun. The most light was on the wave face, so when you dropped in the moon would reflect off the face... hard to see waves coming toward you tho.
im totally gonna make a pair of waterproof nightvision goggles... compact and functional. million dollar idea??
ive surfed a bunch of times at night it usually happens when the waves are so good late afternoon and i dont wanna get out of the water. some conditions can make it really fun, like if its clear with moonlight and if theres birds in the water youll see them bob up in a line when a waves coming. ive also done it times when you cant see **** and then its almost like a wild guessing game. but being in a barrel where you see the lights from the beach reflecting off the wave face is one of the coolest things ever and if youve been there you know exactly what im talking about
Here you go.....if you got the coins. http://www.google.com/products/cata...sa=X&ei=upG5TdqeNMrZ0QHMmfVx&ved=0CFgQ8wIwAA#
^ not bad considering some people pay $1200 for a heated wetsuit. Imagine the empty lineups when the sun goes down?
not to be a chicken, but I'd rather not meet up with the wildlife that gets a midnight snack hankering
