I have finally decided I want to get a custom board made. Who are some of the better shapers in these states? Also, are custom shapers willing to copy other models out there? If you post a shaper, please post a their website. Thanks

Jon Ashton, Mike Hague, Xon Zane (XYZ), Pete Arslanian (to name a few)

Don't know if they have websites but you can get an Ashton by talking to Chauncey
Mike Hague is a member of this site so you can post to him directly
I can give you Arslanian's phone number if you send a message
Not sure how to get in touch with XYZ but plenty of folks in this forum do so just ask

Alrighty, I did your heavy lifting now go buy one from one of them (or the from one of the folks the other people recommended)

+1 on the wynn recommendation! he's made me some sick boards over the years & is a super cool guy to work w/. his website isn't too up to date, he's too busy mowing foam & making kick-ass surfboards!
& he'll more or less clone boards if that's what you really want...the 6'4" bonzer he made me this winter is based on my 6'4" ci fort knox that i took to the maldives. he's also in the process of making me a tweaked dumpster-diver type board for the summer.
if you're a facebooker, this may be the best way to get in touch w/ him: https://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/Brian-Wynn-Surfboards/386940626884

I threw wynn an email and a facebook comment. Hopefully he'll get back to me soon.

I really want something that resembles this board:

    but with some acid swirls

Malibus does not shape thier own boards. The have someone make them with the logo on there. Just like every shop. And their boards are not very close to merricks when both are next to each other just FYI

ummm...let's not go running our mouths where we have no business doing so, shall we? not EVERY shop pays someone else to build their boards. in fact, i can name at least one NJ shop that started as a board company first, & then expanded into the rest of it. so let's get our facts straight, yes?

+1 on Mahady Surfboards. Tom can shape anything you want. He has some super fun summer board designs for the smaller surf. I also just felt up a round pin shortboard he shaped that is sitting in the racks over at Greenlight. Also, if you are a bigger guy, there is no one else in the area I would trust more than Tom. His pricing is very reasonable.
