Any weather gurus out there know why this low pressure system over us has stalled and will last a total of something like 7-10 days over us (its been 5 days or so already)? I've seen lingering systems, but this is ridiculous. Just wondering.

Ive been watchin and it looks like another low pressure system moved into this one and caused it to stall. idk if that makes sense byt thats what it looks like from the news models. and it has lasted a really long time. i am surprised as well

its most likely 2 different systems. The East swell we had last week has diminished, and this next swell is coming from the south.

There's no quick answer, but key contributing factors include the position and strength of the jet stream and the fact that we're coming out of a La Nina pattern. Last month's record tornado outbreak... the massive flooding... wildfires... all related to these factors. We also have a sort of "cut-off" low pressure system over the southeast right now. Things will change late weekend and we could get our first taste of summer soon... once things get moving.

It is common for slow moving systems in the Spring. It is more often Nor'easter type systems though. This is just a weak front that has been draped off the coast, nothing super un-ordinary.
