Claims are like celebrating after you just ripped the last wave. I find that dumb though because I don't want surfing to turn into football or basketball where they celebrate even when they are losing by a ton. And yes I agree the judging was a little messed up. I think Owen shoulda won that heat with that sick last wave he snagged

Desouza's 8 pointer looked wayyyyyyy overscored. He did 1 floater. They have never scored floaters well on the ASP, all the sudden they are dropping an 8+ for 1 floater? Granted it was a sweet one, and the waves did kinda suck the whole contest.

your right, owen should have won the heat. Desouza's floater was pretty awesome, but i think the crowd influenced the judges.

that was such bull****. I watched the final. adriano got like a 8.0 for doing 3 backside turns on a waist high wave. i was pissed. brazil sucks. i want to see taj or parko finally win a world title

the waves really were terrible. I have been living in Florianopolis, Brazil for the past two months (the asp contest was in santa catarina last year). Brazil is a beautiful country, (especially the women) but to tell you the truth the surf is really not that spectacular (east coast atlantic). I can always surf a waist plus wave almost everyday, and severy so often spots here can be world class, but it really isn't the place to handle a world tour event. Imagine surfing snapper's then coming to rio de janeiro to surf beach break slop? It was not even enjoyable to watch. I really hope quiksilver LI isnt a catastrophe.
