looking to put up a wall rack for my boards to get them out of the way. i'm looking for a cheep sturdy rack, has anybody used nice rack brand (the expandable ones), and DelSol brand? I've seen the other ones but i'm not trying to spend a hundred bucks a board to hang it up
u can use some PVC pipe and assorted T's and elbows and mount it to the wall. You can also use thread iron pipe if you wanna spend a little coin to buld it . But a 2x4 with some Dowels will work fine just pre drill into the 2x4 of the size the dowel is about half way in . this will make it sturdy and make it sure that it wont fall apart. Try looking a TRaxx they make awsome surf racks
I have installed gatekeeper and rocky racks to hold my boards. I know you said you didn't want to spend much so before that I was able to find an L bracket at Home Depot that was about 2 inches in diameter on the bottom half of the L. I covered that in pipe insulation and then used a couple bungee cords to hold the boards on, it held about 2 or 3 boards. I must admit that the gatekeeper racks are worth the money though.
I made one last summer that is able to fit 4 boards, 2 shelves basically, attached by rope, with 2 boards on top of each other on each shelf. I'll post a picture in a few minutes, just need to take the picture first. Oh well, if you do a good job and take your time building a rack like mine, not saying that I put time into it because I didn't, you could probably make it look really good.
