that board is sick.... my buddy has that one and it's really fun... it's a bit wide, but is great in mushy surf... the good thing about Santa...
just buy a new grip.... the key is to have your board free of all wax and wipe it with acetone.... also let it set for 24 HOURS before you surf on...

i'd imagine it depends on the size of the surf. you should be fine....

not sure about the shops in your area, but at the shop i work at, we have a quiver of about 30 demo boards that we let people borrow for a few...
