I think you know the answer to that. A loose board poses more of a threat then a leashed board.
and rightly so. the more I think about this topic the more I think anyone that goes out surfing (minus pro's... slightly) are complete and utter...
the first airplane pilots also flew WITHOUT parachutes... now they fly with parachutes. Not using a leash makes you and your surfboard a hazzard....
Unless you're sunny Garcia people that surf without a leash look like they can't afford one.
Long island had a 4/3 on and I was overheating. I think it's officially 3/2 weather.
I think this can summed up fairly easily.... when the surfer up and riding realizes that the person stuck inside either cant' or won't get out of...

rockaway has a good stretch of sandbar breaks, "uptown to downtown".. but some of the best breaks are downtown. unfortunately downtown is kook...

if you surf rockaway you know not to surf at 90th. its kook central there and no on has the bells to police the lineup.
Well I have no problems with what you're talking about.. But I think you're getting worked up over a situation that won't happen too often. But...
