Thoughts on the film? Anyone thinking about getting it? I think it might be interesting, especially since bodysurfing is something I do almost every day when its flat

Could be an interesting video. I may have missed it but when does it come out?
Maybe it's just me, but every movie that I've seen keith malloy in or he has a part of his really good.

baby, i'm [the] board
there is something very primal about feeling the wave pick you up, propel you forward and swirl around you with no conveyance, no floatation...just you and the water dancing delicately between losing the surge and being tossed on your head. movie looks interesting

That does look pretty sick. Bodysurfing is a lot of fun when it's flat, I'd like to pick up a pair of fins and a handplane sometime.

Marky Mark is sick.
Has anyone else gotten weird reactions from lifeguards and other surfers when you go bodysurf? It's amazing how few people do it on the east coast, or anywhere for that matter. I friggen love it, especially at chest-head high, kinda hollow, kinda closing out. You're hardly ever gonna 'make the barrel', so you just sort of enjoy the second or two of being in the tube before the spin cycle starts.

this film looks pretty awesome...i'm stoked to see it. i've always been a ittle confused by the concept of competitive body surfing, though.

Don't know if I could sit through a whole film about bodysurfing... but I love it. Through the entire summer I just keep fins in my truck and never miss even the tiniest swell, even the ones that are only there for a tide. I like to go on those sloppy, onshore bowly days best, when board surfing just frustrates me. You'd be surprised how fun it can make a day like that. I don't use handplanes... just my personal preference.
i have gotten hurt worse bodysurfing than sufing
I was a senior in high school in bethany - almost broke my neck on one of those beachbreaks...

I'm with ya on the contest thing as well. I know some people are incredible, but I personally enjoy getting away from the competitive attitudes. When I'm sick of crowds and drop-ins, etc, that's when it feels great to ditch all that stuff and throw some fins on. I suppose that's just my personal view, though, though it's cool to know I'm not the only one who feels that way.
Do you ever do the 'underwater takeoff' thing? I used to hit this spot on South Shore HI, and this Japanese guy would show up every day and glide up into the wave from below. Watching this from underwater is one of the coolest things I've ever seen in surfing. I've tried to do it but usually f' up the timing and miss the wave.
