    Just to chime in from a different perspective here -- I don't think you necessarily need to go with a shortboard to get more maneuverability. If you enjoy riding a longer board, there are plenty of ways that a shaper can make you a longer board that is more maneuverable. It's all about how you want to surf, what you want your board to be able to do, not to mention the type of breaks you normally surf.

    Vec surfboards from cape cod is a good local shaper I'd check them out.
