I’ve seen a few of those AJW shapes around. Definitely look pretty suite. Also been looking at a few Chemistrys. I like a lot of theirs too. Seems like a lot of guys, including a few friends, have been riding those. I may end up having my bud just shape it for me, but I’m gonna scope out C/L and the shop used racks to see what’s out there and feel some stuff out.
I've ordered two customs from Chemistry. Both boards were/are great. The whole experience speaking with the shaper on the phone and communicating by e-mail, making sure he knew exactly what i wanted and getting his feedback/suggestions was smooth and easy. I'm all about local shapers, but these guys are making good boards.
How’d you make out? I’m on a similar quest but with much different baseline lol, wanna see how you finish and how it works out... I take notes like a freshman in college
Just a thought, I believe to some extent your degree of expertise is a large determining factor on how your skill set will work on any high performance board. I have been surfing for maybe close to 6 years and really only improving over the last 3 years . boards I've bought off the rack suited my purpose at the time and my first custom served its purpose at the time. I surf a lot and continue to work hard on many things but i know with all the improvements I've made and skills I've gained i know i don't have the dream board dialed in just yet . Don't have the mind set that this is the ( magic) board you're having made for you but more as a step forward. Seems like you've got the right attitude and you appear to be ocean minded and with all the great advice you have received you'll end up extremely happy. Just be honest with yourself when you talk with the shaper it will help tremendously .
Taking my time on it, but I’ll post back with some pix when I finally find “the one”. Got my eyes on a couple chemistry’s at the moment.
