Surfer mag. recentleey published an article stating in their opinion, thu top 10 spots 2 surf in thu US...with no suprize, santa cruz came in 1st. i kan attest 2 this, surfing thu region last winter...thu playce livez upta thu hype...

Now, i kan't c how ANY spot on thu east coast kan b submitted, but amongst several, montauk came in 8th!? IF there'z surf, it kan git pretteey good, but still, i kan list 10 cali. spots better than any east coast spot. not ta mention thu total lack uv swell/wrong windz consistentleey here...

here'z an article and their take...

In case anyone wanted to know the current state of east coast vibe/attitude, I refer you to the two replies to my post. They feed off any negative they can extract out of life and bring it to the water with them. NY and NJ are notorious for it. No place in either of these states should fall into the top 10. (note- I don't think I misspelled anything here, but if i did, please let me know because I dearly don't want to disappoint the great f**cking "coolness kings and spelling bee champs of the east coast"...(d**chebags...)

    To late drop and kman,
Let's just cut the b.s. and get down to it. You two are lovers. You two spend a lot of time at the c*^k, dropping in on huge planks. Kman, you should consider moving out to Cali to live with late drop. You guys can room together. But all c*^ks and planks aside, you gotta enjoy dropping in on east coast kooks to surf the east coast. Since the surf isn't what you go out there for...

but I agree with you, no place in NY belongs on the top 10 surf towns in the US - I mean Montauk has its days, for sure, but lets get serious here

    East Coast Pride

Not for nothing brudda's but, being an east coast surfer and unfortunately, growing up on the east coast(sometimes unfortunate), Montauk's place in the top 10 stays true....maybe it should be number 10 but I applaud Surfer Mag give some respect to the East Coast. Sorry, I know its not what you guys are used to with consistancy and pro circuit and waves every day, but **** its something. Don't bad mouth us.....we don't bad mouth you!

I have lived on the east coast my entire life and taken several trips to cali, and I can say, without a doubt, that long island doesn't hold a candle to those breaks. The surf here is inconsistent, generally under head high, generally short period (exception of a major hurricane or noreaster), and hard to access (police, parking, lifeguards). The breaks here are malformed. You can't surf the east coast for the surf, you gotta find others reasons (getting away from the wife, snaking kooks, etc.)

    :(

Everyone on the east coast is just angry there aren't waves, but especially people in NY and NJ are angry just because they live in the worst places to surf on the east coast. p.s if montauk (is that how its spelled?) is number 8 then cape cod should be first lol

solution: take a vacation somewhere with waves (central or south america)
