If you can't get stoked for chest-head high waves on X-mas morning that sucks...

You need to move, dude. Seriously. Leave the East Coast immediately, or quit surfing, or both. You're in for a life full of disappointment as a surfer with that attitude, son!

I've never surfed on Christmas day... just can't get into it with all the kids and family and friends around. It's like Saturday mornings during pheasant season... I just want to do something else.

Tell her your volunteering at a soup kitchen....I'm sure we can find some lurkers to buy coffee for so it doesn't seem too morally wrong....

"Hey, I know it's Christmas, but I gotta spend 50 bucks on tolls and gas to go surf in New Jersey with some guys off the internet. Take pictures of the kid opening presents for me."

Come on LBCrew LOL. Your kids', family's, and friends' present to you, is to surf. Yes, waking up and presents in the morning is a given, but once they see what they have and want to play with, then it's "Uh, honey, I just gotta a call, Santa's sled broke down at the beach and he needs help fixing it. I'll be back in 2 to 3 hours." Plan on a surf buddy calling you in the am. For me, it's 8am. Kids are up approximately 6:30am from excitement anyway, so 90 minutes to 2 hours of opening gifts is plenty. You'll get the tail end of the incoming push too, although likely alot of S>N current; Rights Rights Rights though. Holidays are about family yes, but they're about sanity too. A day off and surf calls for a little water time on a day of giving to others and yourself.

    Just a thought,

    Ryan
