So, the waves have sucked the past couple days here in North Topsail. I'm so desperate I've been surfing 1 foot slop at low tide just to get my rocks off. Only 2 days left until I return to the dirty Jerz. Looks rideable at low tide the next 2 days. Now, I come to find out that Richard Heads caught and released a 12 foot Tiger shark right in the surf where I've been surfing. There's usually no one else out on the sand bar but yours truly. Now I know sharks are just part of the game; we are in their ocean and its the risk we take when we go out but a 12 foot Tiger patrolling my sand bar gives me pause. I'm normally not someone who thinks about this sh!t but that's a big sucker.
So, do I paddle out tomorrow?

Do you bench 400? Wear a Rolex? Sport an iPhone8? Bang Hindus? If not, then stick with the family BBQ, Chavey.

(words from The Shred from the Great Beyond)

do some research on tiger sharks. if they are territorial then consider that. If they are kind of nomads... then don't worry about it.

My question is, are you sure you are picking the right tide? Topsail is a ways up the coast from me, but down here when it's small you have to have that incoming tide push over any sand bars to make it work at all. Just a thought. But yeah, paddle out. There are tigers all over the Carolinas and it's not to frequent that they hang out that close to shore. They have tagged ones all over the place around me and they usually swim into the sound and ping about .5 a 1 mile off shore. It's usually black tips and unfortunately the occasional bull that might come check you out in 5 feet of water

Chavez, if you do decide to paddle out make sure you bring a buddy along. Preferably a slow one. That way you don't need to be faster than the shark just faster than your buddy. Good luck.

realistically it's most likely moved on unless there's stingrays and turtles! when the open bar closes we move on!

I'm all good now. Just a brief moment of trepidation after reading the article and watching the video. I could see the commotion when they caught it from my deck on Wednesday evening. [email protected] that shark. I'll punch him in his mouth. Now, Wayne's God is interfering by kicking up a thunderstorm which has the ocean looking like a small, sh!tty mess.
And yes, Mr-Know-It-All Zach, I know what [email protected] tide is best here.
Trev said it best. Any worry usually disappears as soon as you paddle out and catch a wave. The brain just blocks all the other sh!t out.
Yank, I haven't banged a Hindu but is a smelly plump Amish girl close enough?
