1974 VW Thing! Attention Getter! You better get used to being a local celebrity if you buy a thing!
Olive paint, very stock. Maintained by a certified VW mechanic. I bought it in San Diego 8 years ago and it has been great for me. It's been my daily driver for most of that time. My thing runs great.
The motor is a stock Dual Port 1600 with stock everything and is 5 years old and I have maintained it to the T. The trans. was rebuilt 6 years ago with new clutch and works perfect. The car was in a garage for 2 1/2 years. My car is very reliable and easy to maintain. I have many extra parts that would be thrown in the deal. My thing has a "custom" top that was built while the original convertable top was restored, but I never got around to it. I do have the kit for the frame to reinforce it. I put a cd player in it and it plays well, but the radio has no antenna so that part of it doesn't work. I installed a fan under the dash to cool people. I installed a VW style roll bar in it a few years ago from "The Thing Shop" in Arizona.

I drive this car every day but, just so you know, my car needs the following parts or work done:
    - minor body work
    -new paint
    -CV boots (on both axles)
    - speedometer cable (easy)
    - rear tires, but they still have a few miles left on them.
    -convertable top cloth
    - welding drivers seat rails , (but are safe for now)
-welding/ panel replacement under battery. Aluminum panel riveted there now and works well, just not correct/stock.
-steering box rebuild ($110), but works ok for now, (has been adjusted, but it still has excessive play)
    - new headlight
This car deserves a quality restoration that I don't have time to have done. It's been 8 years and I've kept it reliable and stablized but that's about it. This car will return any work you put into it.
Come and check it out, give it a spin around the block!
