Has anyone heard/stayed with 2 brothers surf in Nicaragua? Looking to make a trip out there during December. Any insights/tips would be awesome.
I would recommend Popoyo Surf Lodge. The owner, JJ, and his crew are very knowledgeable about the local surf breaks. I have met JJ and some of his staff and you will find them to be very friendly. They have great connections in the area. I have personally visited both camps (never stayed at either one) and think you will like the set up at Popoyo Surf Lodge better. They will get you to the best surf breaks every day either via car or boat depending on the break. Their web site is shown below. The waves in that area are super fun and best of all the winds are offshore most of the year. http://www.surfnicaragua.com/about.php
I stayed at Nicawaves.com with Mike. Great place can't beat the price of $5 for a night. The food is fantastic. Within walking distance of Playa Santana and Popoyo. Its not on the the water but I preferred the walk in the morning and the option of either one of the breaks. Also Mike can hook you up with a car ride and a boat trip. I'm tempted to try out the Playgrounds camp. Its a fun left and never crowded unless a boat or two comes in. Gosh I want to go back
i don't about 2 brothers but i been here http://www.surfiguana.com/SurfIguana/Home.html 2 good waves outside your doorstep colorado's and Panga drops.
I have been to Nica a bunch of times over the last 5 or 6 years and have stayed at several of the camps down there. 2 Brothers is on a beautiful piece of land but it is way too far to walk to the beach. The guy that runs it kinda whacked too. I would suggest one of the other places - plenty of spots where you can stay an walk, or pay a bit more and stay at a place like Lances (Surfari Charters) JJ's (Popoyo Surf Camp) or Dale Daggers (run by Ben and Kassidy now) with boats to hit a variety of spots Why Dec ? - the winds can blow pretty hard , Jan/Feb especially have super strong winds. BTW if you like fishing too, Lance's crew are EXCELLENT Good Luck Jim
