Two tropical depressions, 8 and 9 have formed. They will both become Tropical Storms on Monday: Hermine for the first one and Ian the second. 8 is off the NC coast and 9 is in the Gulf and will crossover Florida midweek.

Any bets which one will be Hermine? Such a terrible name.

    Maybe we can rename it.

    Any ideas?

Not this one off Hatteras. Its getting sheared to death tonight. Check out how all of the thunderstorms are blown way NW of the low level circulation. This one's dying.

This looks like that wave that was forecasted to move off Africa maybe?

"2. A tropical wave is expected to move offshore of the west coast of
Africa later today or tonight. Conditions are expected to be
favorable for gradual development of this system later this week
while it moves westward at 15 to 20 mph over the tropical Atlantic.
