2014 SI Swellies Awards: FIGHT OF THE YEAR

Candidates as nominated by the Swellers.

Vote through 8PM EST on Monday, January 13th.

 

Bro. I simply record and post nominations that are spoken by the Swellers. There were no other nominees in other categories or just a couple. Take that up with the rest of the peanut gallery. For HOTY and ROTY, no Sweller in their right mind would be able to nominate anyone else. Then we have other -OTYs that are up to 11 nominees deep and will be very tough choices. This year's awards are different than last, not worse, and perhaps better overall. btw, D-Canoe of the Year is KOTY, it's mentioned in that tread that it represents trolls and the like in addition to kooks.

 

Thanks bro. I follow through with my word and walk the line. As said, I merely posted what you cats nominated and I have no more or less say in any of this than any one of you guys. I even went back through early summah and mid-year Swellie treads and such to record all such nominees in a fair and equal and thorough manner. If there were many more in the shorter categories you'd see them up there too as I would've taken the necessary time to do so. I'm pretty short on time these days as evidence by my sparse posting, but I made sure of getting through to handling this year's process. Especially since you cats were getting antsy. The rest is fairly automated and shuts down on its own.

 

Only difference from last year was Wetty of the Year which we eliminated because no one had too much enthusiasm for it and we all know a wetsuite is a wetsuite. Then POTY was split into separate surf-related post and off-topic post awards, and the same for COTY with surf-related conspiracy and non-surf related conspiracy. KOTY was basically Worst New Member of the Year.

The first day of voting is not the day to be griping about category titles. There was 12 months to do so bro. 2015 is a whole new year my man. So many banners will be raised in this next calendar.

 

Of course bro. Likewise, I appreciate the knowledge and laughs you cats have given me the better part of the last two years.

 

btw, to all Swellers: it would be of great help if you could bump up treads for the 10 Swellie categories that have polls if you end up seeing them on page 2 over the weekend. Some categories that don't get much commentary but still get voting in will fall out of sight for Swellers that come on the site for the first time in a few days tomorrow or Sunday and they won't get to vote on categories that fall to page 2. Please give em an ole White Sea Ape move and bump em up through Monday. Thanks braddahs.
