Always enjoyed watching this contest. Its on now http://www.worldsurfleague.com/events/2015/mqs/1256/vans-us-open-of-surfing
Thanks for heads up. I too enjoy this one. Not my favorite west coast wave but I have surfed some really fun waves there.
This is a really crappy contest and wave. I can't even watch it. It really shouldn't be on the world tour. Plenty of better waves.
WHAAAAAAAAAATTTTT??!!! And how do you expect all the sponsors to get in front of sniveling human larvae known as teenagers??? It's about marketing, man!! Marketing!! Who cares about the surf??
is QS considered the world tour? I always thought it was completely separate...just a stop for pros to maybe make some money on their way to Teahupo'o. anyway, I always liked this contest. It's a front row, head-on view of how an average-mushy/crumbly beach break (what most of us ride) should be ridden. Think of it as a clinic.
No. It's not on the tour. It's a 6 star event with a lot of points and a big purse, so a lot of guys on tour do it.
Hopefully we will have those again preferably with surfers shooting each other over who gets the free promo items.....worth shooting for!!
I'm still surprised even if it's a QS stop. Good point about watching pros surf crappy beach break since we can see them ride our crap waves. I just prefer watching good surfers surf good waves.
What a bunch of mushy closed out crumbly waves. God I wish we had some here. It's anyone's contest in these waves. Maybe in a few days something will crank up offshore before the finals.
yeah, people give honeyton sh!t, but then wish they had anything close at their local spot in summer. When I lived in that area, it was always at least this good (or bad, depending on your attitude) in Honeyton...every single day. Basically, the only difference between summer/winter there is summer is frequently overcast and/or onshore.
