Ok, so prior to any surf trip I buy a pair of “commemorative board shorts” to mark the occasion. Going to Hawaii next month and was floored to see almost all trunks are like 60 bucks. WTF? Bought a discounted pair of RipCurl trunks for $43. Yeah, I know I sound old and cheap.
Ya, thats the surf brands cost these days... If you shop outside the surf shops, you can definitely find some board shorts for cheaper
Damn. I go to the swap meet out here, Kobeys. Billabong super stretch shorts for $10. Just says “product of Mexico” still same quality
Ross, TJ Max, Marshall’s, Bealls, etc. all have decent prices on name brand board shorts. Usually last year’s stuff or older but who cares? It’s still new and a lot cheaper.
Just copped a vintage pair of birdies for 20 bones, like new on eBay. They’re trying to sell for like 80 new. No thanks. Shop at tj maxx, Ross or Marshall’s and you can find nice trunks for less than 20 fibulas.
yeah I know, but it was the only place that I could think of that was more ghetto than Kobey's lol. Except maybe Tijuana. What's DJ Akins?
Really good deli/restaurant like 10 miles east on the 8 from beach. Yeah. Kobeys is pretty fucking gross, but plenty of deals and steals. Gotta get there at 7am to find the Surfboards the meth heads stole earlier in the week.
lol I remember Kobey's was the shizz back when they started in the 80's. Huge upgrade over Spring Valley lol Took my wife there several years ago during a visit after I talked the place up. Got inside and was like, dafuq? Place took a major dive like my old 'hood by SDSU. But man I got some smoking deals on some great shit, one of the things I miss about home
After finding pubies in a pair of shorts at the thrift store, I even stopped buying my underwear there...
I broke down and bought new trunks this summer from a local surf shop. I get pissed because they never have my size... like, ever. I'm an odd number waist, so it's either too tight or too loose. Kinda sucks every time I have to spend money on something I know won't fit. The chick in the store... who had to listen to me whine for 5 minutes straight about how nobody carries 35 waist trunks... then has the nerve at the counter to ask me, "want to try them on?" I just looked at her like... really? I think I but a new pair of boardies about ever 5 years.
gotta get a new pair myself. my old navy's were slippin. i'm sure i'll see a bunch of thi hi ones before i find any good ones. like DP said, gonna run to da tj maxx's before i look anywhere else
