Shazing ! Well done, Barry. Should have included a Wayne reference too, but that's ok.

Sharkhunter, sharks don't enter your home in East St. Louis and infest like rats are known to do. And relax, no shark in Rhode Island. Even Sharknado wasn't their fault. Hey they got involved with a tornado.

Sharkhunter there is a fabulous movie they play on SYFYI channel. It's aboot a shark invasion at the Jersey Shore and the guidos who take battle against them. It's a classic. I highly suggest it.

    It is 2015.

In 1916 that punky bullshark attacked many persons.

The first attack was near The Engleside Inn in B!tch Heaven, NJ.

Yes, it is not quite 100 years but is close.

Point Break and Bhodi taught us aboot cycles....

Why not Jersey you may ax.

Well if you were a shark in present day, would you go to New Jersey?

Hearing the 'experts' are attributed this unusual summer to higher than normal water temps in OBX plus a larger than normal sea turtle population coming ashore to lay eggs. It is bringing in bigger sharks in more numbers and putting them in an agitated state. For the record two weeks ago when I was there, the water was like an aquarium - perfectly clear. And believe or not, a brown dorsal popped up 30 yds from me while I was surfing in Rodanthe at Sea Haven Dr - right next to North Beach campground-gas stations, and sent me straight to the beach. Then I hear about the kid getting wailed Saturday a few blocks south. I have been in the water regularly in VB and OBX since 1985 and never seen or heard of this sht. For the record, a 9 ft. Bull has been spotted at 43rd and 78th st. in VB multiple times, even cancelling a kayak tour. Full on cray-cray.

SO........when I go down this Sunday, how good does it have to be to go surfing? Waist high plus++? What is the new risk-reward ratio to consider here? :)

The 1916 NJ shark is believed to be a GW. They eventually caught one up the Matawan creek apparently with the last victim inside it.

Good question. It almost makes me wish the flatness would come back so I wouldn't have to think about it.

Buy a bunch of neodymium magnets and stick them in your pockets.... You should be good. But report back w any findings if you do. Lol.

You can find it in various reports. There is debate about a GW or bull shark.
The guy that was killed in Beach Haven was bitten in half, took his legs right off. That's no bull shark.

Yeah but many of the next victims were way inland(river). That's a bullshark....

    Multiple sharks...coincidences.....?

    I don't know.

the largest bullsharks could do it. in the 10ft range certainly could bite a person in half during the course of an attack.... but I hope none of us ever find this out first hand!

This is what you want - great book about the 1916 NJ shark attacks. There is another book also entitled "Close to Shore". I've read them both, but prefer this one as it's less story and more investigative. The Great White was caught in Raritan Bay after the Matawan Creek attack. The argument that it was a bull shark was based mostly on the belief that the creek doesn't have high enough salinity levels for a GW. But more recent research has indicated the salt levels are higher than thought - and plus, the shark was just downright out of its mind. Anyway, check out the book. I couldn't put it down.

What happens when the NSA / DARPA / CIA / Sea World start to cross breed bull sharks & great whites?

Those magnets are pretty cheap (Walmart, Home Depot etc.) wouldn't hurt to have a few in your pocket. Thanks for the tip.

Something to the magnets...maybe board shorts woven with magnetic thread? Find with magnetic outline? Fin boxes?bodyboard bottom slick outlined with magnetic small rope?

well there's been one recorded attack in Delaware history which was an ankle bite last year, I wouldn't be terribly worried. Just trust the numbers :)
