Sharkhunter, sharks don't enter your home in East St. Louis and infest like rats are known to do. And relax, no shark in Rhode Island. Even Sharknado wasn't their fault. Hey they got involved with a tornado.

Sharkhunter there is a fabulous movie they play on SYFYI channel. It's aboot a shark invasion at the Jersey Shore and the guidos who take battle against them. It's a classic. I highly suggest it.

The 1916 NJ shark is believed to be a GW. They eventually caught one up the Matawan creek apparently with the last victim inside it.

You can find it in various reports. There is debate about a GW or bull shark.
The guy that was killed in Beach Haven was bitten in half, took his legs right off. That's no bull shark.

the largest bullsharks could do it. in the 10ft range certainly could bite a person in half during the course of an attack.... but I hope none of us ever find this out first hand!

 

This is what you want - great book about the 1916 NJ shark attacks. There is another book also entitled "Close to Shore". I've read them both, but prefer this one as it's less story and more investigative. The Great White was caught in Raritan Bay after the Matawan Creek attack. The argument that it was a bull shark was based mostly on the belief that the creek doesn't have high enough salinity levels for a GW. But more recent research has indicated the salt levels are higher than thought - and plus, the shark was just downright out of its mind. Anyway, check out the book. I couldn't put it down.

Those magnets are pretty cheap (Walmart, Home Depot etc.) wouldn't hurt to have a few in your pocket. Thanks for the tip.

Something to the magnets...maybe board shorts woven with magnetic thread? Find with magnetic outline? Fin boxes?bodyboard bottom slick outlined with magnetic small rope?

AI on sunday south side had a 5 foot friend swimming towards me... scared me pretty good.. paddled away calmly though. First time I had an encounter with a shark out in the water believe it or not.

 

well there's been one recorded attack in Delaware history which was an ankle bite last year, I wouldn't be terribly worried. Just trust the numbers
