800 lb gator in Dare county NC?

    haha, yeah really.

    that gator had a nickname "cheeseburger" , that road is very dark especially if there is no moon out. People (non-locals) will drive through to catch a glimpse of alligators up on land.

    Yeah. They're like "look at those humans, they have to paddle out and duck under waves. GROW SOME WINGS KOOK!"

    Yeah if you've ever driven through there on a new moon its very very dark. Decades ago on a trip down there my Dad nailed a dead black bear in the road. You'd think that would be easy to see as well.

    lately every night on the news there is a (BIG) black bear in suburbia somewhere local.
    paws on the ground / stealth takeover?

    They're moving westward from the Eastern NC forest these days. Various theories as to why, but they are definitely way more sightings these days. Couple decades ago it was very very rare to see black bear anywhere near the Raleigh area.
