Its trajectory has it headed to some serious warm water...
Looks like Fiona could hit NE while 99 crushes the Cape (Hatteras). Good graphic...thanks for sharing
HAHAHA these videos man. And by "these" I mean the "ima talk while you look at my computer screen right quick" videos. There is so much info out there on this, it's anyone's guess what's going to happen. I can say one thing for sure: this video and it's title are pure clickbait dog crap. "y'all better pay the most attention to the GFS model"... why is that? let me guess: becasue that model shows the highest likelihood of landfall, validating the BS title. There's already a 99L thread btw
Its just a model bro, relax. And if you know anything about hurricanes, the trajectory of 99L is very promising.
My spidey senses were on point with this one. Hermines forecast is down right scary for LBI, lets hope the winds stay closer to the North quadrant then to the NE. http://www.stormsurfing.com/mobile/natla.html
I've been reading Barbarian Days, and the author spent a lot of time in Madeira surfing heavy waves. These storms that head E towards Ireland just push huge swells SE towards these islands without the wind. Gaston basically gave them 6 feet at 17 seconds swell for several days as it moved out. Hermine will as well.
Care to elaborate? I read it over the summer and thought it was excellent. Frequently I would have preferred him more insightful, and less matter-of-fact, particularly about his privilege/entitlement/disregard for family ... but it was his life to write about, not mine. And man, what a life... Talented writer, and a very well written and edited book in my opinion.
Also liked 'Barbarian Days'. Haven't read a ton of surfing books but I'll rank them like this: Eddie Would Go Barbarian Days Surf is where you find it (Lopez bio) Ghost Wave (about Cortes Bank, interesting but too much filler) Mickey Dora bio (forgot the title. World class asshole lives grifter life isn't an interesting story)
That picture below is exactly what I was thinking. I too am reading barbarian days. I started it on my Indo trip but found little time to read actually. Pretty good book so far.
I especially enjoyed the beginning with his time growing up on the South Shore. Some of his stories were so vivid for me (Black point and Diamond Head...He was describing waves that I surfed a ton out there on that corner beyond DH). And his interaction with the locals in school. I need to finish that book.
