I have a 61 Hobie Alter that has been professionally restored. I am moving soon and can't take it with me, what is it worth? Thanks, Blackfish.
from my experience there are two things here.. one "moving soon" 2."cant take it with me"..so this shortens the pricetag you may get. .it is now a what can i get for it before i move type sale... if it doesnt sell before u have to move let me know
Looks heavy as hell. Selling something like this is a niche market and can take a long time to find a buyer who's willing to spend what it's worth...don't expect much.
You're a smart dude, frost As a kid that dabbles in online marketing/salesmanship... (for whatever its worth) I can vouch for this. If people see you're moving the ONLY thing you're gonna get is lowball offers.
Contact The Longboard House in Indialatic, FL. They can give you a ballpark on market value (don't let them know you are moving, duh!), and very well may let you hang it on their wall for consignment, or they may lowball you so they can flip it for 3x what they give you for it. I think it could sell retail for $1500 to $2000 to some idiot. So they may offer you $500 as is, or they may let you consign it and get 70% of what they sell it for. They have a ton of old boards that have a history and go for big bucks, and you never know. If you are in no rush to sell it other than logistical issues, and they will store it and sell it for you for top dollar, problem solved.
happens a lot here with college kids come here for school schools over heading back to Kalamazoo don't wanna take a 6-7 foot piece of fiberglass..I was on phone with one guy who was literally catching a flight in 2 hours still trying to sell his board...
Probably a good amount. There is some guy on the jersey shore craigslist who has an ad to buy old boards and will pay top dollar
