i had complete rupture, that was 12 weeks in a cast and 12 weeks in a brace. I cut the brace short and was active in about a total of 21 weeks.

I had a complete rupture back in January of this year and had surgery three days after my injury. Long story short, my Doctor told me 4 months after surgery that it would be almost impossible to re rupture my achilles and that I could do whatever I wanted to do. I still had a lot of pain at that time but had a lot of confidence in my Doctor so I started bodyboarding again. Different than surfing I know, but I always bodyboard with fins which really put my injury to the test.

Spic, sometimes you are such a self important drag. It's a good place to hear directly from other people who had the same injury. Every post comes with an implicit YMMV.

    Nurse michael here.

You're going to be off the board for a minute my man. Don't push it, you won't be doing yourself any favors. It's different for everyone, there is no default time frame, but the general post surg recovery time for this puts you out for 4 - 7 months (big window, I know). You might be able to get on early summer and be comfy. Heavy emphasis on might. Winter and spring, call it a wash, it isn't happening and I'd be lying if I said it could happen.

Whatever they tell you to do, DO IT. Whatever your body is saying to you, if it hurts, Effin stop.
