Every now and again my face gets itchy and breaks out in hives. Usually the side of my face and always in my room. May be a contact allergy. Any suggested cremes, ointments, etc? Anybody else suffer from this problem?

Dude your just high, it'll pass. A glass of water, and switch activity. If you're watching tv - read a book, if you're falling asleep - take a shower. You'll be alright.

Contact allergy - contact to what?

Then that's detergent. Use less of it and switch brands. I've lost a few weeks of sleep trying to figure that one out, all itchy and ****. No hives. But body is a mysterious thing man.

Cremes or ointments are strictly palliative ( symptoms, feel better, but they do NOT address the cause. You do have an allergy problems, sounds like, so, yes, look to your pillow case, detergents, shaving cream?, anything that you apply to face. Having said that, you need to consider what your are ingesting as well. Have you introduced anything new into your diet?? Are you an asthmatic? Dust mites in the room? You need to to consider anything beyond the normal obvious answers. Immunology is full of strange turns in diagnosis.
    Good luck.

edit...do you have pets in house?? Cats really suck for allergies. If you do--kill the cat, or give it away.
