I'm venturing out to Dana pt at a hotel in front of salt creek for a couple days with my family. I want some waves. I'm bringing my bodyboard (easier than surfboard to haul out). I look foward to ride some waves at the creek and some other spots in oc as well. I want to see/try the wedge which is a little north. Then late week, I'm going to san diego-ish area and try to get some waves at some other spots. I want quality waves with some cool people at a new place better than DELAWARE! Any tips/advice would be amazing. Thanks
Although I don't have too much advice, I can say that last summer I went out to California for the first time (I live in DE) and spent a week where it was unusually flat. I did visit the wedge though and despite the lameness everywhere else it was still pretty neat too see, did some body surfing there too. We also visited well known beaches such as Venice, Huntington and some others. Be prepared for the traffic, its a *****. Take advantage of the time difference, getting to the beach early is nice. I'm flying out again with a friend on Thursday and as long as things hold up it looks like a much better time to get in some body boarding.
