I refuse to get any of those types of devices. I knew the minute they were released that it was an invasion of privacy and there would be people on the other end listening. And sure enough, the truth comes out!
Something will come out that they were “collecting data” even though we’ve disabled their A.I. software. That community pisses me off
Like Obama did with Manning? Or was he/she only commuted? Kinda on the fence with Assange. He’s released stuff that the public should know. But he’s also a de facto choke point for disgruntled employees to burn bridges. Sometimes it might be be better to *not* know things
The people part, as bad as it is, isn't even the worst part. They easily have the ability to data mine ever word you say. Beyond what you actually ask the thing, they are collecting data on every word (regardless if you are prompting it with a hey Alexa) you say and building a profile of you. Nuts to have one of these in your home.
And they would be correct. Right or wrong AI needs data, and lots of it to "learn". The only scary part is not the actual AI - but the fact companies will collect more and more data about us it to make it "smarter".
My every post has wisdom, it is just up to the individual reading it to catch up. Me > everyone else on Earth.
I've had many arguments with friends about these devices. Being early 30's my generation is all into this crap. I'm being called the old man now because I refuse to put one of these in my home. Never understood why people don't trust their government but trust their government to oversee corporations and trust the corporations themselves. The convenience vs privacy debate is going to get very interesting in the coming years.
I hate to sound like an Archy-esque tin foil hat wearer but don't you think our smart phones and I Pads and the like are doing the same type of data mining?
