The fact is I mentioned what in my mind is an unwritten rule. You are trying to be very literal in how you interpret my words. I never indicated it was a written rule Barry...your words not mine. You asked Says who? I answered. Pretty straight forward. You want to call it courtesy that is fine. Let's be courteous and not drop in on somebody or you will get your sh%& thrown in the water (or worse).

    OMG this thread!!!

I read a bunch of pages but not everything. there is some great comedy in here other then what transpired on the beach and BP's bags being tossed in the ocean.
Im sorry that sucks but if you're gonna shove (or shove back) anything is possible.
In Brads defense of comedy, I particularly liked "what am I supposed to do, take advice from a big fat black guy eating a hamburger". lol.

But to the story at hand, no matter what leads to it, dropping in on someone is that one event that will always lead to an actual confrontation in the water. Name calling, stink eye, bad vibes all that stuff does not push the buttons the way the drop in does. Heck, some say that I even took revenge on some 6 year old kid that dropped in on me....

Brad Pitted just move on and get pitted. Learn or don't - your call.

Here's the thing. There are rules. If you want a full run down look up surfing etiquette. Mr. Pitted this is how I see it. You paddled out at a brake you dont know. You sat in the wrong spot (this is clear if this dude could sit 30 yards away from you and make the wave you are in the wrong F@&*ing spot). You get salty at this dude because he is taking all the waves (in the wrong again because if there is only two of you and it was as good a you say it was you should be able to find one or two waves he is not on. unless this dude surfed like jesus in which case you should have been taking notes.) This is the moment in the story that infurates me. the rules are cut and dry, person closest to the peak has priority and who ever is first to there feet has the wave. you could have 1) paddled around him closer to the peak so you had priority 2)paddled on the inside of him closer to the beach so you were in a position to out manuver him when a wave came. 3) You could have paddled to the ouside of him so you caught the wave first. but you did not see any of these things as an option and you just dropped in on him (breaking the cardinal rule). Just because stuff does not go your way you make the worst move. you deserved to get you stuff thrown in the water (because you left your **** on the beach and your a super dousche). Your the dude that I hate and you have inondated this sport. your the dude that paddles for the shoulder when a guy is riding a wave twards you because you dont want to take one on the head you would rather ruin someones ride.

    ****s be ****s

It all fun and games until, someone becomes a ****!
But first, just communicate, and if that does not work.
Than pull out your 10' longboard and run his ass over.
    Because
    ****s be ****s

The world would be a better place if this is true. Would mean Herr Bear is still alive and in the general population and there's one less idgit in the world.

If you think you can post a story on SI forum, and everyone is going to tell you that you're right, you're dead wrong.

BTW you really were wrong, on so many counts. If you have a shred of intelligence you'll learn: how to gain priority on a wave, not to bring your stuff down to the beach (unless you hanging out all day and have a cooler full of beer and sandwiches), and most of all when to walk away from a thread.

    Thanks

well if you somehow run into this f-nut you can tell him he's the biggest pssy ever for tossing my stuff. no matter what you don't damage people belongings. because of my job I practically live out of my truck and if I lost my bag it would have been the equivalent to burning my home down.

    Damnit man!
What all of you guys are having a hard time understanding is that it was the Brad's turn to catch a wave.
That other douche caught like 3 good set waves in a row.
When does the Brad finally get a turn?!

that might get me punched in the face! I'm way too pretty for that.

The only thing you are right about here is his reaction being a **** move. it was a childish and cowardly Very Walter Sobchak type of reation.

and besides what if he made a mistake and threw someones else's stuff in the water thinking it was yours?

Might end up like the famed Little Larry Sellers incident of 91
