This is a long tread, Brad started it, or maybe the other dude catching all the waves started it, I don't know? Seriously would like to know how long you been surfing? 30 some years ago as a 90lb grom I was surfing and a 300 lb neanderthall dude on a LB was catching all the set waves. Anyhow along comes a wave and I see him going left so I go right unaware he had cut back across the peak. As I kick out he clotheslines me and holds me under for a few, pulls me up by the throat and puts his face to mine and says "if you ever cut me off again I'll kill you". Needless to say I paddled a safe distance away. A few years later the same dude would have kicked somebodys butt for f*cking with me. Just chalk it up as a bad day and learn from it. Take the advise or not.
Hi for anyone giving me crap about lineup behavior... 1. Click on the image below. 2. while staring at it, shake your head left and right. 3. have a nice day. Brad Pitted is over this sh.i.t
This is probably the best post I've read in a while, as I am still laughing. Brad, you are such a tool.
Lol, really? This is surfing almost every swell for most of that time. At least mine were not intensional and I kicked out the second I realized someone was behind me to let them pass. Can't remember the last time it happened, probably because I have priority most of the time and its the guys eyeing me up from the shoulder that are contemplating it. Everyone makes a mistake and misjudges in the line up now and then. It's how you handle the mistake that matters not that you made one. Everyone realizes you didn't ask for advice but what's so wrong with getting some?
I don't think I've ever, ever dropped in on anyone on purpose, except for good friends while we were surfing on acid when I was in my teens. Everyone makes mistakes. An apology and becoming scarce for a bit usually suffices. If someone drops in on me, and offers up even a lame excuse, I say No worries bro. If they drop in on purpose, and repeatedly, (and I'm not traveling to some localized break), then there can be trouble. That is a declaration of war. However, if I am surfing a strange place and that happens, I move on due to a keen sense of self preservation. This is all basic Surfing 101 stuff. Some people, they feel so entitled, they just don't get it.
I can't believe this thread is still going on... Really??? 'You can never stop learning- you can always learn from your mistakes or someone else's' -some old surf movie
What do you expect? Everyone is acting like they are Kelly slater and know what's right in every situation out in the water. Seriously I think some people are just trying to stroke their own egos on this site.
Whos trying to stroke their own ego? U thought u were entitled to waves u didnt earn and u got burned then posted about it. A lot of us are good but still arent the best dude at our line up..........we deal with it. Sirfing aint koombaya and u gotta get in position if u want waves. U need to hit the books.
Look fatman, you had a reasonable post there- right up until you say hit the books. That makes the situation appear as though you know more than the person you're writing to. I think you could probably use a lesson in holding your own, not just in the lineup but probably in real life.
BP, none of us were there so we can only go by your story. Think about what you wrote, you told us this guy was on the peak and catching the wave before you. Then you said, F that noise I'm going anyway. Maybe since you were the only one out and because you were not sitting on the peak, maybe he thought you were just some touron. But then you said peaks were all over. Once again, none of us were there, so we can only go by your story. If peaks were all over, there shouldn't have been a problem unless he was just out paddling you. So, reading what ya wrote, you can't exactly be mad at the fellas for lashing out. Regardless, the dude was a prick for throwing your sheet in the water! I hope your next surfing adventure goes better for you!
