Oops. Sorry, Paleo dudes. Got carried away there. Now I don't know if I wanna go to Waffle House, call the crazy neighbor lady, or go see my diesel guy.

I yield your thread back while I ponder such difficult choices.

Good night, and good health to all.

These silly diets piss me off. Seems like there is a new fad every couple years.

Food is delicious and should be enjoyed, but have some respect for yourself and stay away from consuming junk on a regular basis. Also, the most important thing in life is cardio. Stop making excuses and go for a run everyday.

I agree 100%. The first 3 letters of diet is DIE. To go on a temporary diet for weight loss and fitness is pointless.

However when describing the foods you eat on a regular basis the term diet is the proper definition.

Your article agrees with me, yet some experts remain unconvinced.

A lot of people turn to paleo to lose weight. If that is their goal they will be better off limiting carbs.
    .
I'd hardly interpret that as Sisson promoting calorie restriction. He found some interesting studies about it and asked his community what they think about it. I had assumed you meant Sisson promoted calorie restriction to lose weight.

Not sure what to say about the testosterone.... He is saying it is useful for endurance athletes.

I don't think many paleo experts are promoting a low carb diet specifically for endurance athletes.

These are some very good friends of my wife and I that started this biz a while back. They own a gym and they went paleo but modified it somewhat and soon had people asking for their meals and recipes. One thing led to another and they ended up starting it as a business. Good people, will be straight up and honest with you and answer any and all questions. They eat their own dog food, as the saying goes. They are both in fantastic shape and use all their own meals. I don't know enough to comment otherwise, but I can tell you they will give you the straight story.

We don't do the strict paleo, just try to eat healthy. Wife has a hard time giving up some favorites...

Looks yummy, pricey, but yummy. I don't think the wife is coming with me on this trip, she's thin like a rail, and loves her some carbs.

I'm nowhere near strict/pure Paleo, as I just started, and I don't know if I ever will get to the point of "pure or strict" (especially in the light of those athlete discussions.) If I end up in some middle ground somewhere, but healthier, I'll be happy. I decided not to try to kick my diet coke habit at the same time. (That's next, as soon as I get through the Carb/sugar withdrawal symptoms.)

And Metard, about the cravings. As I look around the house, at literally mountains of Christmas cookies, I can only think of Lloyd Bridges from the Airplane movies. "I sure picked the wrong week to quit sugar and carbs."
(but actually, I probably picked the RIGHT week, as I won't need to recover from all that.)

Go run three miles. Do that 5 days a week. Your metabolism will become a digestive Lamborghini and you can still eat for enjoyment a couple times a week.

I understand the need for cardio, but I'll have to work mine in by doing something other than running. My knees would need to be replaced in order to do that. They put a gym in at my office, so I should be able to find cardio there. One step at a time.

Goddamn now people are eating like cavemen!? You know they had life expexctancies of like 25 years right. What the fuk is wrong with people. Just eat healthy foods in moderation, get some excercise and all will be fine. Or go be a caveman if you like, Yabba Dabba Douchery!

I agree, but the paleo thing makes a lot of sense to me. The way I understand it's about eating what our bodies evolved to eat, not the processed carb\sugar\chemical crap that's ubiquitous today.

The first rule of paleo/crossfit club: never shut up about paleo and crossfit.
