Parking is fine, although right now, they are paving the streets around the parking lot...... I think the lot opens up at dawn, and closes at dusk. If you park on the street, by the jetty, make sure it's after 9:30 or your **** will get towed. Same goes for the lot, pay attention to the signs and you'll be fine. The cops do regulate fequently.
Yea second that. If you park down by the jetty, make sure you're out of there promptly at 7. My friend and I literally ran to his car after a evening sesh and at 7:02, he had already got a ticket on his windshield. Piggies don't mess around at Croatan.
I believe it! I got a ticket for surfing "too close to a structure" at 60th St. this September. I was the only one in the water, springsuit temperature, minding my own business, snagging a few little waves in the late afternoon and plenty far away from the construction area. Johnny Law called me out of the water and wrote me up - $25 fine and $87 court costs - even though I mailed it in!!
For an early AM session or late afternoon session you can always park on the first street side, rock hop, and paddle across the jetty... just don't get caught. Not sure but even a few years ago (might have been close to a decade now) you could park on some of the side streets closer to Gen. Boothe. Of course both of solutions only apply to surf on the Jetty side of Croatan. This time of year (or any time of year for that matter) I don't think there is any advantage to surfing Pendelton. Go ride the North End. No shortage of parking or open space there.
