Question: have you ever surfed with a sinus infection? If so did It make your sinusitis better or worse? In theory the saltwater could work as a saline flush. However the tourist's e coli may counteract the benefits of a saline flush haha. Thanks in advanced for the sound medical advice.
Not sure. I don't usually go to the doctor unless somethings broke or falling off. But i had what i think may of been a sinus infection and surfed a bunch with it. G'night it would help. It didn't. I actually think the water may of been what caused it to begin with. Regardless i kept surfing until there were no more waves. It didn't make it THAT much worse
I've had sinus issues all year and surfing makes them worse but whatever. Rinse out your nose with that saline flush stuff and use flo-nase. That has been shown to be as effective as antibiotics for sinus by some studies. https://www.bcm.edu/news/head-and-neck/new-ways-to-flush-sinus-infection
Two words: neti pot Invest in one. Flush a couple times a day. Especially after surfing. Problems will resolve.
surfing makes it worse if you have a true infection (aka will not go away w/o antibiotics) if you just got alot of chit clogged in there then surfing can be a miracle. the chit that comes out of my nose (and ears) is gross and interesting at the same time.
this. The last time I had a sinus infection, surfing wasn't even close to being an option. the, fever, chills, headaches, and etc. we're way to intense to even think about surfing. About as sick as I've ever been. to answer your quedtion, the way i see it, even if you have the strengthen nothing about surfing is going to be beneficial in fighting an infection.
Smoke lots of herb, it'll dry that sh*t right up. Seriously, I use to get infections a couple times a year, but haven't had one in years since making herb a regular thing. I don't get colds, the flu, nada. It's amazing really.
Flonase at night. Ocean brand saline in morning. Netipot only once a day in between. Drink gallons of ice water. Eat a lot of hot pepper/hot sauce capsaicin, nutrient rich food, including citrus, lemons limes oranges grapefruits. 12 hour 400 mg mucinex. 4-600 mg ibuprofen every 6-8 hrs. Cold-eez zinc. Done. Unless it is good do not paddle out.
Couldnt agree more. Its amazing how herb can help with all types of ailments. I feel like my mind is able to better concentrate on the pain and with a better attitude I can almost heal myself. Very scientific I know, but it seems to work for me.
Thanks for the advice my surfing brothers. I hope you all at least got to long board this morning. I opted for rest, neti pot and mucinex etc. See you next swell
Got some longboard waves this morning... it was ok... wind switched. If I have a sinus infection and the waves are really really good, I would paddle out, but still use a netti pot after just to clean out all the dirty water. If it's not great and I feel like junk, I don't go... You probably got the sinus infection from surfing- the water can get pretty dirty especially after it rains. As a rule of thumb, if I'm surfing and have a bad wipeout where I get water up my nose, I use the netti pot right after. If I don't have a bad wipeout - I don't use it unless it's right after a heavy rain. I try not to use it too often, it can be kinda addicting since it really clears everything up
I recently bought one.i fuking love it,best 15 bucks I ever spent.i smoke,i work with metal,i deal with a very lot of steel dust,i hack up pleghm every single day,for years. I been to the dr plenty of times they normally give u a tiny bottle of promethazine and some antibiotics, and my hacking will go away, but as soon as it runs out a week later il be hacking again. I feel the neti pot is like the only thing that actually helps.the hacking never affected my surfing, put me in a few scary spots where I had to cough while taking a wave on the noggin, but its ok u don't die lol.i feel salt water is good for everything and theres nothing better than surfing so they kind of go hand in hand
