He acts like its the coldest place on earth. "Hopping in water that's 35, 45, 46 degrees"... It's been colder than that round the North East!

Water temp regularly gets down into the mid 40's during winter in the south, so that doesn't seem so bad.

haha, i wonder if these "pro" surfers were like "sh**, why couldn't we get sent to indo?"

if you're traveling on your own dime to friggen Norway to surf, you are one jaded surf traveler. granted, i would love to check out some of those mysto frigid pointers way up thurr, but shoot man it's COLD. i get plenty of COLD at home. i wanna surf a nice machine-like wave in crystal blue water, paddle through the reef keyhole back to the beach or hop back on the panga outside the lineup, and crack a cold one after a nice troppo session. or if them waves are good enough, eat a sangwich on da boat, then paddle back out for a few more balmy barrels. after all is said and done post-surf session, i want to look at tail in skimpy clothing. that ain't happening at the 65th parallel or wherever these guys are at.

It's actually a dream of mine to head someplace like this to surf and see the northern lights in the same trip. Heard that every couple years you can see them from nova scotia. Or maybe it was certain part of the year. Can't remember. One day.

Sure tropical places are warm. Obviously. But places like that seem more adventurous. Exploration off the beaten path ya know

I remember going over to Martha's Vineyard in January the one year for a chili festival and the boat pushing through ice in the harbour. It was slightly cold. Ha

Some of those cold water spots i have seen the most amazing slabs and point-breaks and nobody is out. When NJ is going off i barely mind the 35 degree water and even cold air temperatures. The best thing is that your all alone where most tropical spots that are world class are infested with brazilians and other annoying packs of surfers and sponges. Id love to surf Alaska, Nova Scotia, Greenland, Norway but tropical is just easier and more relaxing for a vacation

crawled up a dune and through 3 ft of snow about a month ago! completely alone except for about 200 bird on the water! was very geared! when I was leaving I saw a bald eagle drop a Canadian goose from 100 ft in the air! positive it was a eagle as it swooped down and was near its prey! I left it be and started my car heater! best day of this **** winter!

gear today can handle anything. But I guess there is entertainment value in videos like this for people who aren't aware of of that fact.
