That actually has not been my experience in southern California. Spent 7 days last month at Lower Trestles and despite the crowds the lineup was very orderly. I only got dropped in on one time the whole trip and that was by Mike Parsons who was well ahead of me when he dropped in. Surfed among some of the best surfers in the world a couple of days when it was firing and had no problem getting in the rotation and getting waves at the top of the peak. As long as you're friendly, respectful and patient and don't act like an aggro prick you will get waves. I like lineups like that where it is dominated by good surfers........that creates order. I'll take that anyday compared to where I live in NJ where half of the people can't surf yet paddle battle at the peak only to pull back when a wave comes their way.

Don't know what videos youre watching but from my time in socal Ive rarely ever witnessed this. Been living in sd for the past year and a half now. Depends on the spot and the people in the lineup that dictate how tolerated dropping in on someone else is. Places like PB are fairly kooky so youll see more individuals dropping in on one another. More localized spots dont take that $h!t. Ive witnessed multiple peopl get called out of the water by the "boss" for completely accidental dropins. Just like anywhere else, you gotta give respect to get respect. Crowds do suck in socal but if youre at the right spot at the right time you'll get plenty of waves.
